U.S. Treasuries
Treasury Solutions for Short- and Long-Term Investment Needs
U.S. Treasuries are widely regarded as one of the safest investments available, backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. Alamo Capital offers direct access to Treasury Bills, Notes, Bonds and Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) through both primary auctions and the secondary market.
Treasury Bills (T-Bills)
Designed for short-term investors, Treasury Bills are issued with maturities of 4, 13, 26 or 52 weeks. Sold at a discount, T-Bills do not pay interest during the term; instead, the difference between the purchase price and face value is realized at maturity. Weekly auctions determine pricing, and non-competitive bids enable investors to purchase the desired amount at the market-determined yield.
Treasury Notes
With maturities ranging from 2 to 10 years, Treasury Notes offer semi-annual interest payments and are ideal for investors seeking predictable income without locking up funds for the long term. Notes are available through competitive or non-competitive auction bids and can also be traded on the secondary market.

Treasury Bonds (T-Bonds)
Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS)
TIPS are designed to preserve purchasing power. While the interest rate remains fixed, the bond’s principal is adjusted for inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Investors receive semi-annual interest payments calculated on the adjusted principal. TIPS are particularly useful in inflationary environments and are available through Alamo Capital with access to secondary liquidity.

Investor Considerations
- Taxation: Interest on Treasuries may be exempt from state and local income taxes, but remains subject to federal tax.
- Auction Timing: Different maturities are auctioned on a weekly or periodic basis; planning ahead can help align purchases with your cash flow needs.
- Interest Rate Risk: Longer-duration securities (like Notes and Bonds) are more sensitive to changes in interest rates.
- Inflation Exposure: While TIPS adjust for inflation, traditional Treasuries do not. Consider the role of inflation in your broader financial picture.
- Reinvestment: Upon maturity, investors may choose to reinvest proceeds, but yields will depend on current market conditions.
